Day #6 of 'The 12 Days of Fretmas'.
Meet Witney Guitar Club Member - Andy G - who has been with the Witney Guitar Club since it began in 2024.
What Instruments Do You Play?
Guitar, Bass, and could probably still play the Piano if I tried!
What’s the best concert you’ve ever attended?
What’s the best concert you’ve ever attended?
A "Space Spectacular" at the Albert Hall with the BBC Phil, with lasers and fireworks. Kids loved it, wife loved it
Which is the best gig you've ever played?
I haven't done very many gigs as such, just a few one-off things. Witney Guitar Club is at least as good as anything I've ever done.
Which is the worse gig you've ever played?
I was about 14, and a few of us were "volunteered" to play at a churches-together-youth-day-thing. It seemed to go ok at the time, but looking back (I try not to) we must have been awful.
Which has been your best Witney Guitar Club gig so far?
Charity gig at the Cherry Tree in Eynsham: a few songs really came together that night.
Which artist/band/genre(s) do you like to listen to?
Spotify says my listening age is 68! I like a fair bit of Fleetwood Mac and Dire Straits stuff. I recently discovered a duo on YouTube called "The Distance", they are amazing.
What music styles do you like to play?
Oh ... I wish I could strum well. Most of my practice is trying to improve that.
What is your favourite Witney Guitar Club song that we play?
There's a few. "No hard feelings" by The Avett Brothers, "When I'm Gone (Cups)" (sorry Adrian!) from the film, Pitch-Perfect and written by the Carter Family and "Prism In Jeans" by Richard Hawley.
What do you like most about The Witney Guitar Club?
It has a good atmosphere and a relaxed balance between trying to sound good and not taking ourselves too seriously.
What tips would you tell your younger self, just starting out to play?
