Meet Witney Guitar Club Member - Phil - who has been with the club since it began, in 2024.
What Instruments Do You Play?
Acoustic and electric guitar and the Grandson's Ukulele
What’s the best concert you’ve ever attended?
Bruce Springsteen, Wembley, and Paul Carrick - always good and multi-talented
Have you ever played a live gig?
Only when 13 years old, for the Scout's gang show and also a Red Cross Christmas party
Have you ever played a bad gig?
I think they were all pretty sub standard
Which artist/band/genre(s) do you like to listen to?
Large variation. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eagles, ELO, Fleetwood Mac and a lot of pure guitar music (The Shadows and others)
What music styles do you like to play?
Mixed. But anything that I can master
What is your favourite Witney Guitar Club song that we play?
Losing my religion and Sunshine on Leith
What do you like most about The Witney Guitar Club?
The relaxed atmosphere with a nice bunch of people that like to play for enjoyment.. No pressure
What tips would you tell your younger self, just starting out to play?

Frequent practice. Try to get things the best you can. Learn from others
Tell us something about yourself that people may not know
I like the outdoor life and a bit of farming (Ooh Arh!!)
Any plans for 2026?
To keep Busy. Do the best I can. Keep Healthy. Keep practising the guitar and fit a holiday in somewhere!
